Monastic
Here we have a montage of two volumes that work in tandem with one another. The marriage of the two blends the context with the requirements of our clients. One volume serves to compliment the language of the existing build, while the other slightly toned-down volume evokes the context brought about through materiality.
With the former underlying volume a solid base was provided through the existing apertures and their proportions, while the secondary volume works as it echoes a language which is more reminiscent of today.
Both volumes work in sync and rather than simply replicating the old in order to compliment the surrounding, they provide both a contextual interface as well as an interesting newer architectural interface in a predominantly rural setting.
