Fragmented Volumes

Blending the rural context and the introduction of new materials and elements was the key to making this site fit in and not feel overpowered. Subtle changes of light come about as the day rolls on, revealing different greys and textures amongst the selected fauna. A raw material palette and natural textures drew inspiration from the calming context.

The idea of fragmented volumes lends itself to the idea that the volumes are easily toned down, keeping the overall mass of architecture space to breathe without appearing too aggressive. This toning down shows respect to the beautiful rural and coastal surroundings and maintains a relationship between modern architecture and the environment. The architecture is strong within itself and requires very little internally to accentuate the living spaces.
